Was thinking about getting the Rogue Grid filter kit (for my 600EX-RT) to control spill so my background is not completely gelled. Anyone else use these and like them? I use two monolights for key and fill and use the Zebra hotshoe for cybersyncs to trigger my 600EX-RT in manual mode.

Also, was going mount my old 430EX as an optical slave for my hairlight. Would a grid be necessary or does it not matter since the spill is traveling away from the background?

I am using the Rouge grid now. Its pretty good with disciplined subjects that can sit or stand in place during the set up like when I have my wife as a subject. However with the kids who can't sit still, since the light source is so small, their little movements make a big difference in the effect. So for that I am looking into different larger modifiers, like maybe a Qbox 16 or 24 or a photoflex strip box with grid.

My grid system just came with one free sample gel. Most of the time, I am using the grid as a hair light or background separation light to control light spill back to the camera and adding flair. When I want to gel the background I use the Rouge gels that attach to the bare speedlite, but I haven't really played much with gelling the background through the grid. That mostly because one sample I got was a pink color and well its pink... I would like to lick up the set of gels for the grid at some point in the future though.

Ended up getting the Rogue gel kit, trying it out tonight. Also got a Honl 1/4 Grid for my 430EX slave as the hairlight. Anyone else use a grid for hairlight using a speedlite?

Maybe I'm just cheap, but most of the Rogue stuff seems way overpriced to me.
I bought a 1/8" and a 1/4" Opteka grid for $10/each, they work just fine for my use.

Yeah. If you ever have an idea that you want to market I hope this doesn't happen to you too.
