They are popular if you live across the river in NYC and have to pay the ~8.25% sales tax there but nothing when you have something shipped from NJ.

Since I don't need another camera body immediately, I thought I should wait and see what happens to the prices after current rebates expire. I've heard that prices usually drop after rebates?

Not from what I remember. Prices go up after rebates AFAIK.
