While I wait for Datacolor to get back to me, I am wondering if anyone has calibrated their monitors using Spyder 4 (I have Spyder4Pro) from within Windows 8. I have two 27" Dell U2711 monitors on a dual-boot Win7/Win8 setup. When I calibrate them with Spyder4 in Windows 7, everything is fine. The two monitors look as exactly the same as possible, and I get accurately colored prints.

When I calibrate the monitors from within Windows 8, one of the monitors is noticeably greener. (I have monochrome desktop wallpaper, so hue differences are easy to detect.) If I use the profiles made in Win 7 on the Win 8 side, the monitors look fine. It seems that the Datacolor 4.5.4 software has problems with Windows 8, although Datacolor does not mention Win 8 on its site (a search for Windows 8 there turns up nothing about the OS).

I have seen claims that Spyder4 works fine in Win 8, but my experience is very different. I'm wondering if it is just me, or if anyone else has problems with this?

FWIW, I have experimented and found that while Epson has not yet released Win 8 drivers for the R1900 printer, the Win 7 drivers seem to be an excellent option. I printed the same image from from Lightroom within Win 7 and Win 8, using the Win 7 R1900 drivers in each case, and the prints were indistinguishable.

I have xRite i1 Display 2 and it works fine in Windows 8. I know that doesn't help you any though. :)

Actually I think it's better in Windows 8. One of my monitors (I have 3) was always too red in Windows 7, and it appears much better after calibration in Windows 8.

Actually, that is good to know. If Datacolor can't help me get the Spyder4 to work with Win 8, I am eventually going to have to get something else.

Datacolor has not been particularly helpful nor supportive. Their suggestions have been that a) I am blind and can't tell when two monitors look the same; b) I have the wrong drivers for my video card; and c) that my video card must have only one look-up table, so I can't use profiles for two different monitors. After systematically eliminating each of these possibilities and reporting to Datacolor, they have stopped corresponding with me. Twice they essentially blamed Microsoft for not assuring that Win 8 was compatible with their legacy hardware and software, while at the same time implying that it should be compatible. I used to be impressed by this company, but now not so much.
