Well, my 450D has finally committed suicide after 4.5 years... Not sure on the shutter count (will have to check on that later).. But my camera this weekend threw up the dreaded "Err 99" while I was shooting at the nature reserve.. I tried inspecting it, cleaning the sensors, removing the battery and card and letting it sit for a moment..Nothing worked.. heard it trying to click over.. Opened the lens up and it looks as if the shutter is stuck (some say its the aperture blades?.. not sure).. I'm going to take it in this week to my local camera shop and see what they think, but I know it will have to be sent out to canon to get serviced.. and the cost of repairs prob aren't worth it, right? .. I guess my camera knew I had the 60D coming in this week and decided it was time to go :-(

If what you're seeing is in the lens, then it's the aperture blades. If it's in the body, then it's the shutter. From what I understand, the shutter is fairly easy to have repaired.

My last few pics I took have that "black bar" in them in the way of the photo, when I look in the camera I can see its closed completely.. i'll try to take a pic of it and throw it up here..see what ya'll think.

I had the same happen on my 40D (with not even close the shutter count it's supposed to be good for), cost me $250 to get it fixed. Wasn't happy I had to pay, but at least not crazy expensive either.

40D, 5D3, a bunch of lenses and other things

my 400d is doing the same thing. if i use it too much for a photo shoot the shutter gets stuck and i have to turn it off and back on and it works fine for a bit. seems to be a heat issue on mine. hopefully it doesn't cost too much to get repaired. oh and my shutter count is at 33,000....which again is no where near what its supposed to be at.

I just went from the 450d to the 60d. Haven't even had it a week and am not looking back. You will adjust quickly.:)

I played around with one at the store for a bit (of course can't do much without the sd card lol).. It has a nice weight to it.. didn't realize it had a little bit of size difference.. def. going to have to get use to the pushing in and rotating the dial.. a lil bit of a different setup.. that will be the biggest thing i'll have to get use to.
