Apologies if there is already a thread, but has anyone got this and willing to post some pics up for me please? Deciding between this and the Sigma 10 - 20mm. I can't seem to find any sample threads for the Canon.

Also, peoples opinions? What performs better? Has the better build etc....

Thanks :)

i think it's actually better to start from the back, the early pages sometimes have dead images...

I didn't think the differences between the two was worth the considerable difference in price...if i was spending as much on the 10-22mm, i'd probably take a hard look at the sigma 8-16mm

The Canon 10-22 is one of the best lenses I have owned.

I would recommend one to anybody with a crop body.

I used to have the Canon 10-22 mm when I had my 30D, and I loved it. Had to get rid of it when I sold my 30D and got the 5D II, but I can tell you that it was a really, really nice lens!

I tried the Sigma 10-20 before getting the Canon 10-22. I much prefer the 10-22, its a bit better in every way, which makes up for the price difference.

If you are serious in considering this lens, also consider a comparsoin with Tokina 11-16mm F 2.8 before making a purchase. You need to do your homework well not to get disappointed later.

I have also enjoyed using the Canon lens. Build quality is good, ive always been happy with the images from this lens. The ultra wide FL is very interesting.

Unfortunately now I dont use my 40D much, I dont get to use this lens as regularly as I would like, but i wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.

What lens do you have at the moment ? ? ? An ultra wide angle is a great funky lens but its also a specialist lens and requires a specific foreground to get the best out of them. If incorrectly used it leaves a large part of the scene empty of any interest. Since I changed my 18-55 to a 17-55 my Sigma hardly leave's my house/bag. I like my 10-20 but rarely use it.

At the moment I just have the kit 18 - 55, 40 pancake and a 250mm so nothing really that wide. Oh right, okay, so what advantage would I gain by having a 17 - 55 over the 10 - 22? Is it as wide?

17 is not as wide as 10, so no.
