After the demise of Jessops in the UK, I was looking for other outlets of Cannon gear. I've come accross a web page of a high street retailer advertising the 70-200 2.8 L IS for appoximately 2/3 the regular price we find in the UK.
Although the description does not mention it being a Mk2, the image of the lens that accompanies the detail has the writing around the front of the lens that includes the "II". (I appreciate it could be an old stock photo).
I wondered, is the mark 1 lens still for sale new or has it been totally replaced with the mark 2 (when did Canon introduce the mark 2 ?)
I was going to hold off until later in the year, but at 2/3's the price, I'd be a fool not to take the opportunity now (or at least until after pay-day).
As a comparrison, they also have the 24-105 f4 L (that I bought a couple of weeks ago) but that is about 30% more expencive.
I'd appreciate any info.
Lawrence
