What brand of CF cards are good

I use Transcend 16 Gig cards, they're cheap and so far I've had zero issue. You can find them fairly cheap, the 133x cards I have were around $35 each, and I bought them on eBay. I also recently bought two Maxell 16 Gig 400x cards, $20 each from B&H, they get good reviews, and so far they've worked perfectly. Had Several SanDisk cards, a few failed, a few still work great. I'm sure it's up and down, some people are gonna get great results from a card made by Joe Schmoe, some people swear by SanDisk.


Me, I use what works, and so far Transcend and Maxell have worked great.

I have had excellent experience with Transcend cards.

Transcend, Lexar, and Sandisk for me was well

I use Transcend 64G 400X cards in my 7D and have never had an issue with any of them.
I also have older sets of the Transcend cards for my 40D and 30D and have never had issues
with any of them either. 14 Cards in total.

I moved away from transcend a number of years ago after 2 different cards started occasionally giving me occasional corrupted images. While it was only about 1-2 in a hundred it was annoying and never had the issue with SanDisk cards in the same camera.

I love the price of transcend cards vs. SanDisk but not if I get corrupted files randomly. I haven't used a ttranscend card in years so hopefully they have solved the issue.

Definitely Transcend 400x CF cards! I will probably never change. I have a 5D2 btw...

I would never buy a card on EBay! What a crap shoot.

I'm not a pro, so my first priority is price.
I have never had any CF card fail. I even had a 4GB Microdrive go through the washing machine without any affect on its performance (I really don't understand that one).
So....price is the major factor for me.

i to have had real good luck with the transcend cards, i own the 7d and use the 400x 16 gb,never fail'd yet!:p

I bought a Transcend 16 gb 600x CF card last October (2012) from B&H and yesterday when I turned on my Canon 5d Mk2 it can no longer read the card and says Card Not Formatted. I tried reformatting the card but the camera would not do it. I can read anything from the card either which had a couple photos on it. Sending the card back to B&H. It apparently has a lifetime warranty but makes me leary about CF cards. If I had just done an improrant shoot I would be in a world of hurt.

Absolutely true. Rife with counterfeit cards. It might say "Sandisk" on the outside, but who knows what is on the inside.
