The collection tab of the main DPP window is probably something that lot of DPP users don't use. However it can be useful sometimes. Here is a case where it can be helpfull.

Suppose that you want to search for all your pics that satisfy a given condition to apply them a given process (for example you want to apply DLO to all your pics that have been taken with your 85mm lens).

So you will probably use a software that allows to search in exif tags to find those shots and then ? how can you transfer those pics that have been found by the other software to DPP ?

You can probably create a new folder and then transfer these files there and then use DPP on this folder. But you probably don't want to break down your folder management isn't it ?

So the solution is simply to drag and drop those files to the DPP collection tab. First select the tab collection in DPP and then proceed to the drag an drop. So you can work on these files without having to change their locations.

It's a shame DPP doesn't allow multiple collections. I'd like to keep my photos in folders sorted by date, but have permanent collections that link certain photos together... "bugs", "birds", "aircraft,"... whatever.

Or is there a way to do that, which I haven't discovered?
