I'm interested in this lens but I don't know much about it. What is the IQ like (compare it to another lens) and what is a good price for it?

I imagine you can find it from ~$500-$600. It's an oldie.. before digital cameras, but I imagine it still provides good IQ. Going to be a bit loud and slow though, I don't think it has USM.

No idea on what you'd compare IQ to.. maybe a 16-35 Mk I?

It'll be louder than USM but it won't be slow like a 50 f/1.8.

The 20-35L isn't worth it for $500 in my opinion. Get a 17-40L instead for the extra reach. Why are you looking at the 20-35L for your T2i?

Comparing IQ, it's as good as the 17-40 (and a stop faster) and 16-35, not as good as the 16-35 (v2). So IQ wise it's good compared to other Canon lenses, not to (wide) Nikon or Zeiss lenses though. Here's waiting for the Canon 14-24.

It is/was a good lens (quite sharp), but I don't think it's "coolness" is worth it for your setup. I had the same feeling for the old 80-200L, I now use it on my 5D MK2 and it's great. The range between 20 and 17 is giant. If you like older lenses and want it you won't be disappointed with the performance, but you'll miss the range at the bottom (17) on full frame. It doesn't matter on crop since 20mm on a crop isn't all that wide. So the only thing I'm concerned about is the usefulness of the range for you. I'd personally rather get a prime lens if I had to choose between a 20 - 35 range. Either a 20mm or maybe a 28mm, they will outperform the 20-35L any day.

Here's a review (external link).

Feedback: Bought - Thinktank UD50. Sold - Canon 24-75.

I had a 20-35L...sold it for a used Tamron 17-50 non-vc, and pocketed the $200 difference in price. The AF on the Canon was quieter/faster and the build quality better, buy from a pure IQ standpoint, I didn't find a lot between them...that being said I'd still pick-up another 20-35L if I could find one for a cheap enough price...it's small and still has that L feel to it.

$400 is what I saw it for. I was not thinking of it as an ultra wide. I was thinking as an everyday lens. I might be getting rid of my Tamron. Possible picking a Sigma 30 1.4. I just saw this and thought I should check into it.
