Hey guys, I am debating which to pick up first as I am going to build my glass the right way first so when I get the 5Diii I don't have to go back and do it again. I will be attempting to get the 5Diii right before summer and put it on credit, yet put enough down to have low payments on it and then pick up the secondary lens if I have not done so yet. These are the only 2 lenses I would need for a while. If either lens is doable refurbished or used without having to worry about issues then I will take that route if I must but I prefer not to.

I like to use both equally amount wise. Though, with the upcoming car season I feel like I would be using the 70-200 more seeing how I will be attending more track-like events. As well as personal automotive shoots. But having a better walk around lens would also be nice (with the 24-70) I feel like I will be doing a lot more panning shots this year. I am looking to build my portfolio.

My third option is the Canon 580EX II. (I already have a Yongnuo 565) Having 2 flashes would be nice as well, though I thought I could just get another 565 and that will satisfy me for a while. (Plan is to have the 580EX as my main flash later on with some others as slaves) I can afford the 580EX II right now though.

I have both and use both quite a bit. However, if I had to pick one....based on image quality and usefulness, I would go with the 70-200. It's sharp and versatile.

Really they are totally different lenses...and you have to seriously ask yourself "what am I going to shoot?"

imho your own style should dictate lens purchases and focal length is the #1 deciding factor when I pick up a new lens.

It doesn't matter how big your camera is, it's how you use it!

Awesome, I am going to attend more track events, and you don't get close enough to use under 70mm for that. I will not be on the track itself. Also, I feel like it would be a bigger accomplishment. I feel like I really don't use mid range focals. I mainly stick to my 10-20, 30mm, and my 55-250.
