To avoid fungus, I just put a few small packets of silica gel (those 'do not eat' things that come with countless products). One little packet in each lens bag is usually enough to ward any fungal spirit off, in case it ever gets humid. After 8 years in home storage one of my Minolta MD lenses got fungus, which is why I started this practice in the first place...plus it's free.

On second thought the spot in the picture I uploaded might not be the actual problematic area.

The 2-3 iffy spots are relatively small and whitish. Therefore the 100L didn't/couldn't lock on to them.

Granted my lens is nowhere near as bad as the picture Phil shown..

I think I need to take it to a professional to get an expert opinion. ..

Maybe I'm over-reacting, but the thought of one sick lens spreading and ruining all others is absolutely terrifying :(
