I don't get how highlights are blown when you are using that many exposures. Isn't that what high dynamic range is for? Holding detail?

You mean the light sources? I don't really see how you can expect a light source to not be blown out.

Aside from that, I don't want it to look to un-natural anyhow. That wasn't the goal here.

Some pure white specular highlights are good. But with HDR I think you should have been able to still have white but held the detail in the sides of the bridge and the front of the store is completely gone in #2. You probably could have captured that with just two exposures. One based on spot readings of the highlights and the other on spot readings of the shadow. You could have still kept that real white look and had some detail in those blown areas especially if you had 5 different exposures and still kept if from getting un-natural which BTW # 2 is getting.

Yes I see what you're talking about, I could probably process it differently to reveal more detail there. Thanks for the feedback. The main advantage of the extra exposures in these shots is that it really added a lot to the reflection, in an additive way.

I don't have the original files so there might be detail but all ya gotta do is take a spot meter reading of those areas that are bright and place them at zone VIII and that would still keep them white but should reveal some detail and just make that one exposure you add to the mix. Good stuff...

Very nice work. I am just getting back into things and the shots are very inspiring, can't wait to get out there now.

Nice shots - Can you tell me about when you took these? I took some shots in Baltimore Inner Harbour and got up at 2:30am to get the shots I did. I was a little worried traveling around with a bunch of camera gear by myself but it was worth it.
