The back story of the owner is really interesting. Most of this set was photographed down by the river front, but the car is located in Maryland. The owner drove 10 hours for me to shoot the car. I say the car is unique, because the owner is a conceptual artist for the Army and has designed many of the aesthetic trim pieces himself.

His job sounds pretty awesome. He basically is responsible for designing Army vehicles, weapon systems, and marketing collateral. He customized this front bumper and lip to his own taste.

And the shot I was hoping would get cover. It didn't though.

Number 2 is gorgeous. Excellent composition. I like how you include the background at the right of the photo, and how the poles look like they are of differing heights. It's probably just me, but I think a lot of photographer's are too quick with the close-cropping. Not every shot needs to be an extreme close-up, as you've demonstrated nicely here.

Editors and art directors make the selection of images ultimately used in any mag layout. What you end up seeing in a mag may not be a reflection of what a photographer submits. The norm has been to show the tighter cropped shots where a car fills the frame. Editors are also dictated to by publishers in many instances in how they want the content to be used.
