Well well well. Another razor sharp UWA-zoom from Nikon?

If this lens is anywhere near the quality of Nikon's 14-24, it will automatically smoke Canon's 17-40L and 16-35L II.

Canon, what are your UWA-guys doing?

But why is not just straight F4. I despise variable aperture lenses. Just make it F4 and be done with it. And 18 is a bit long for a UWA on FF I would want to see at least a 16mm or 17mm. And NO IS? I know everybody says you don't need IS in these, but I would use it a lot. Dark venue wide shot at 18mm, then 4 stops of IS would be very helpful.

The Canon 17-40mm F4 is a great lens for the money.

They have the 16-35 F4 VR, which is exactly what you are describing. Presumably this is a lower cost one to go with the 24-85 f3.5-4.5. They would have made some cuts to keep it a certain price.

Is it? The variably aperture makes me think it's designed mainly to be cheap.

I see the 16-35mm I didn't realize that. Geesh almost 1300 bucks. I guess I won't have that one for a while lol.

You sound kind of whinny.

Still sounding kind of whinny

STILL whining?

Nikon has a image stabilized(or what ever it is) wide angle zoom.

Nikon makes a wide angle zoom that has IS and its wider than 18mm!
