Hi there,

i have recently purchased a used Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 to accompany my new canon 5dii.

I have noticed that at 24mm its ridiculously OOF beyond the realms of Micro-adjustment. It seems to happen for things at distance tho across the other side of the room or across the garden.

For comparison, I put on my cheapo 28-80mm lens at the same settings and sure enough, that was bang on.

I ensured that I was shooting at a decent f stop (from 5.6-11) and over 1/125 to ensure that it wasnt user error...

When I shoot objects quite close by at 24mm they seem fine and when I shoot at 70mm it doesnt seem to bad either?

Is this a common fault? Can anyone shed some light on this please?

It was purchased from a reputable local camera store a week ago...

Any suggestions?

many thanks in advance!

Don

Because it's a Sigma. Go play the QC roulette again.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.
