Not many seem to have the EF28 IS USM.

Anyway, here's my wife's car just after she'd washed it...

I'm an all prime shooter myself, but I will fully admit that the 24-105 is an incredibly versatile lens on a full frame camera. I like taking the 28 IS with the 40mm STM as a small walk around kit, seems to work well for me.

My thoughts exactly. I have the 24-105, and love it for the reasons you mention. I have just purchased the 28 IS USM about an hour ago, to compliment the 40mm pancake, to use exactly as you described -a very light and compact walkaround setup. With fantastic image quality capability. One lens on the camera, one in your pocket, and you're set. Especially combined with my 6D. No more bulky than the likes of a 60 or 70D, buth with killer low light ability. I bought the 28 over the 24 mainly due to a bit less distortion at the edges of the frame. I think :) I love wandering around bike and car shows, and looking at the exif, most of my shots are at 28mm or around the 40-45mm focal length. Close enough for me :) Can't wait 'till the next show.

Just a bit of a test shot to try out the AF accuracy. Seems fine.

Perfect for my style of auto shots :) Fairly difficult lighting, it was either harsh midday sun, or 1/2 shadow 1/2 full sun.

Not much love being shown for this lens but I'll have mine this Monday. Going to make a great companion to my 35 f2 IS.

Yeah, it's another ripper lens. In my humble opinion. I'd love to get all three of them, the 24, 28 & 35 IS versions. I had the 24, but it was stolen a while back, with my crop camera. Got the 28 mm this time with a 6D as it's a bit more versatile I feel. I have the 40 mm pancake, which makes a good companion to the 28, and is too good to replace with the 35 IS really, for the price. The 28 is noticeably sharper than the 40 when shooting back to back though.
