While on my trip to Australia, the biggest enjoyment came from the new birds and different wildlife. Walking around Melbourne, there were incredible birds everywhere (lorikeets, cape barren geese, parots, etc)! In addition the birds that were just out and about, the Taronga Zoo in Sydney puts on an incredible free-flight bird show. My photos from this show leave a lot to be desired as I am new to this area of photography and it was a very close space (as such I didn't post many from the show). That said, if you are ever in the area, I highly recommend it.
