go to pbase.com and type in Sigma 50-500 under search. Currently 10519 shots to look at so you should get some idea of what is possible:

The Bigma is a wonderful lens thats very able to perform, but like all things how well it will perform depends on the person using it. You will find many samples of what it can do in the nature and animals forum here. It's my most used lens and I myself love it. So really have a look through there, or do a search on posts in there under my name and you will see quite a few samples.

There are quite a few other members with this lens also that do some outstanding work and most likely get even more out of the Bigma than I do. For it's price and reach, hard for anything else to offer the same kind of value. Heres 2 images I had handy, but do yourself a favour and do look at everyone else's in the nature forum, some beauitful and fantastic images are shared there.

Lovely color and contrast. Barely any PP.

Nope, he uses the Sigmonster (300-800mm). A far more expensive proposition...

Looks like Romy has indeed switched to the Sigmonster, but here's a link to his page that compares his Bigma to the 100-400 and 400 5.6

cheers,

Nice comparison! I don't see a whole lot of difference between the Bigma and 100-400L at similar focal lengths but the prime shines. I like the idea of a lot of zoom with very good quality and for $400-500 less then the 100-400 I can't justify stepping up for my needs.
