Canon DSLR Speed Challenge #271: Caught in the Act

Caught in the act.

Okay, let's get this straight from the start, I don't mean to suggest "the" act, though I don't wish to limit you (Keep in mind POTN administrators might wish to, refer to rule # 7, below.). Rather, I want to see images of people, animals or whatever doing something where the perpetrator of the act doesn't think they're seen or found out, particularly by the victim.

Judging will be based on image quality, and also the entertainment value of the act being performed. The act will have to translate well in a single image, keep that in mind as you frame your shot. Tell us the story.

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at10 p.m.EST Sunday, January 27, 2013, giving you some weekend time to find your perp. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

4. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting - * ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.* Photo Name in the message subject line.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.

After careful deliberation, and making sure none of these entries included images of myself doing something...well, never mind; I have come to the following conclusion.

So much of what is 'Caught in the Act', has to do with being naughty, least to some extent. Jean-Guy, yours fits the bill (Who knew monkeys did the bases too?), but the focus is a tad soft and detail is lost in the blacks. Maureen, you know how much I love cake, and I certainly have been caught raking a cake myself. But in this case...it's a bit of a stretch. The image and lighting are spot on and had I spied in the corner a cake untouched, unbesmirched, well then you might have convinced me. Nice try! Flo, terrific image, weird bird. I'm giving you the hallowed second place. Congrats! Phil....geesh....um, your focus and exposure is spot on. In this case, I'm going to suggest that it was you who was caught in the act! Instead of getting number 2, I'm giving you turd. Third! I mean third! LOL! Oscardog, you're top dawg this week! Congrats! Perhaps there might be more exciting backgrounds to the other entries, but your image says best, "Yeah, I did it and I'd do it all over again!" No remorse. It's that glint in his eye that says it all. I'll keep in mind, that if I ever come to visit, to bring my own roll.

Congrats to Oscar for his hilarious entry! Most of the entries this week were great!!
The story behind mine was this little guy was walking around the picnic table & sampling icing off each slice of cut cake. Unfortunately my position was too close to the subject to catch it all.

I have sent oscardog a PM so we can get the next challenge going.
