Does anybody do this? I saw an ad on Craigslist and I sent them a message (using my SPAM catching email address :)).

This is the ad I saw on CL...

Flexible part time hours. Must have reliable transportation and digital camera. You set the pay rate!

I'm a skeptic when it comes to anything on Craigslist these days... But if it's legit it may be a good way to earn some extra cash.

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.

That sounds like a giant waste of time unless you have a day job which requires you to drive around the city in a company car. If you burned 1 gallon of gas per hour, You'd have to find 3 locations per hour just to come out ahead of minimum wage. And chances are, after 2 or 3 days of hunting, you'd exhaust all possibilities for at least another month or two.

Invest in your passions, man. If photography is your passion, focus your effort on making more $ from this passion. Maybe that means increasing your skills. Maybe it means advertising. Maybe you need to investigate other niches in photography. Maybe your pricing is too low. Maybe you're not working with the right clientele.

I just know that I would have to exhaust a pretty long list (including the above) before I even began to look for odd jobs.

They pay $5 for any house within 20 miles, well if you find 10 houses you might break even after gas expense.

Yeah, It's pretty much a farce for me. They contacted me today and they want people to scope out Northern Atlanta which I am way south of Atlanta. Not a good deal since I'd have to drive 100 miles one way just to get to the first house. So it's not worth it for me to begin with.

Yeah they're like local newspapers; they pay nothing to people who know nothing and would otherwise be doing nothing. As a result they don't get professional results and chances are they don't expect to. They just want people dumb enough to burn their own gas and time so they don't have to burn theirs.
