I saw this coyote on a recent stroll in one of our local parks. Was I surprised!

Great shots, really like #2. Very cunning animal, difficult to shoot. Hope he's not thinking " that last photographer sure was good". :)

Very nice, sharp! It is usually very hard to get this close, nice work.

Nice captures, clean and crisp.

My dog chased one off our street a few weeks back, it was crazy.

My best guess is that its "citified" and somewhat used to the presence of people. I was 30 to 50 feet from the animal. In a few instances it was too close for me to frame. I dared not make a move to back off lest I scared it. As it turned out, the frames I got were very good. Thanks everyone for your comments.

Great shots! I'm going with it being used to people too. I've seen specials on tv that talk about them living totally in cities and eating mostly pets. They had video of them going right into people's yards and taking pets. They also have them threatening people too so be careful around them. They seem to be altering their behavior quite a bit from what I'm hearing. That tv show even talked about the possibility of a new species that is actually a mix between wolves and coyotes. I don't know about that but I do know that I never saw a coyote until about 15-20 years ago. Now they're everywhere. I have a large pack that roams the property where I'm living pretty much every night. There's an old barn on the back side of the place and they seem to congregate there. I do have some photos of them captured by a cheap game camera. It's hard to even make them out but they are definitely there. Besides I hear them every night.

That barn is probably only about 150 yards away. I'm about to commence thinning out that pack when the weather warms up some. I'm just not up to sitting still out in the cold these days.

Sorry if I offended any animal rights types but those critters can be a real menace to both man and his animals. I don't feel bad about thinning them out.

Great shots of a beautiful animal. There's a pack that lives somewhere near my house (somewhat out in the country). I often hear them in the evenings, which is really an awesome sound. I haven't seen any, though.

those are very sharp. We have them in my area, but out of all the time I've spent hunting / hiking through the years I've never seen one.

"Citified" is right! I see them all the time while on the road, but they take off on a dead run pronto! Would love to get some shots that close.
