Canon Teleconverters. What's the difference?

The 1.4x II and the 2x II Teleconverter cost the exact same from B&H. Other than the magnification, what's the difference? What do most people have?

I would presume the 2x will show up flaws more than 1.4x ie if your lens isnt top quality a 1,4x might be the best option. Loss of light is obviously another factor so x2 will be easier to use with a faster lens.

With the 1.4x you lose 1 stop of maximum aperture. With a 2x you lose 2 stops.

So if you mount it on a F2.8 lens, it becomes F4 with the 1.4x, and F5.6 with the 2x. The teleconverter reports this to the camera so that no other adjustments are required and the images contain the correctly adjusted aperture in the EXIF info.
