On the small Island of St. Kitts (Caribbeans), hundreds of these Cattle Egret had no choice but to nest and raise their young on the thorn bushes in order to avoid the Mongoose; a mink-like mammal that was introduced by early human settlers to control snakes. Now has a devastating effect on all bird's population on the island...

(I was there last March, went back last week to check them out again, you can't miss them on the main road going west.)

great set Alfred, and boy, can I relate to the term monsters, the youngsters here, though not so big when I watched them last week, were absolutely feral in their attitude to being fed. I so feel for the parents!

Fantastic series, with great detail in those white feathers. #2 is an especially nice composition.
