I use a 17-40 f4 for most of my reception shots, I'm usually shooting at ISO 3200 with multiple off camera flashes, and I don't do much shallow DOF shots of people dancing. But I can't imagine trying to shoot ceremonies or getting ready with that lens, for those shots I use my 35mm f1.4
