After the robust discussion in the Sigma 35 thread I was interested to see some stats from those that own this lens. Please only vote if you own the lens as it would be nice to see a true reflection of what's out there.

There's no poll... :)

And I don't believe in such polls, because those owners who do have a working lens are not going to be typing "sigma 35 problems" into google and coming across this poll, whereas those who do have problems, will.

Poll is up now, thread posts before polls are created here. I agree it's hard to trust the accuracy of a forum poll but I'm still interested to see the results.

Also what's stopping 35L owners who are grieving the sigma to just vote yes?

Nothing really, but I would think most people aren't that petty.

Also it's an open poll so if you click on the number of votes you can see who has voted, most people list their gear in their sigs so wouldn't be too hard to work out if there are some grudge votes in there.

Not looking good so far, 1 in four are duds according to POTN. I would have thought it would be less than that but I'm sure there are loads more votes to come in.

At least it's a far cry from the "95% are bad" call in the other thread.

I had (2) 35L's in the past, and LOVE that lens.

To be honest, the Sigma is quite a bit better in every aspect... Except the whole AF issue going on (which is quite important, yes).

The IQ is better all around... Sharper center wide open, sharper edges wide open (look great, actually)... Build quality is twice as good... Cheaper.... Simply amazing, actually.

If they can only control the dynamic MA issue going on... It would dominate over the Canon L, easy.

I am PRAYING that my 2nd copy is OK, because it seriously one of the best lenses I have used. Simply a pleasure to shoot with. I am debating if my second one is "faulty" if I will try to have Sigma fix it first before sending back for the last time... If they take 2 weeks to turn-around the lens I would still be within the 30-day return.... I just hate to be out all this money shipping it everywhere!

I expected more bad votes TBH, for the reasons I gave in my first reply.

bannedPermanent ban

Just got back from CR Kennedy who is the sole distributor of Sigma lenses in Australia.

They want my body + lens for calibration. Not trying to sound pessimistic, but I doubt they can fix it if diff MA values is required depending on the distance....

Bad thing about living in Australia is that even the distributor can't get enough stock. They told me I have to wait till June/July if I wanted for a replacement. The guy I spoke to hinted that if the problem is real, the next copy is just going to be the same right?

I mean what am I suppose to do then? Return it and just never buy Sigma again?

I should put mine on eBay and profit. I only paid $835 for it.

Which retailer did you buy it from? Some of their other stores might have stock for you to exchange.
