Hi, I was wondering what someone else thought of this shot, and I'm also debating whether or not a greater depth of field would have been better. Thanks in advance.

The background looks to be mostly shadow, so I think that a greater depth of field would have been beneficial here. As for the shot as it currently stands, I like the colors and I think that the textures were captured well (nice contrasty light) but I feel that the framing is a smidgen tight.

Personally, I'm okay with the DOF. I like the darker background - it sets off the colors nicely. I like the sharpness, texture, and composition.

Well, since I have a yearly pass to the Aquarium, I plan on shooting a tons of photos of this little guy, so... we shall see.

I think maybe the greater dof may have helped, it seems like having most of the little guy in focus could have really made that picture pop.

How about taking the darker BG further in photoshop and burning out the foliage a bit more? (not so that it is completely gone, just not as noticeable especially around the head.)
