I had one before and worked fine on my 5D III for normal shooting.

BH Photo has it for $140.

Amazon - $99 (external link)

A fun comparison.

---------------Read speed----------Write speed
Lexar 400x 64GB CF - ---------------117 mb/s------------35 mb/s
Sandisk Extreme (60mb/s) 16GB CF-------78 mb/s-------------45 mb/s

I tested these with Kingston 3.0 USB card reader.

I have a Lexar 1000x 32GB on the way, so I'll post the info up by this weekend if anyone is interested.

I's be interested in your findings. I need a faster card than my Lexar Pro 400x when I have my spaz moments and it's not writing fast enough.

---------------Read speed (avg)------Write speed (avg)
*Lexar 400x 64GB CF - ---------------117 mb/s------------35 mb/s
*Lexar 1000x 32GB CF---------------117 mb/s------------46 mb/s
Sandisk Extreme (60mb/s) 16GB CF--------78 mb/s-------------45 mb/s

Tested with Kingston USB 3.0 card reader. Used HD Tune Pro software.

*It is possible to have better read/write speed with Lexar UDMA 7 USB 3.0 card reader.

I'm a bit disappointed with Lexar 1000x write speed vs Sandisk Extreme 16GB. You can get Sandisk Extreme 32gb for $50 less and still the same write speed as Lexar 1000x.

I think you may want to look at your reader as I was just looking at a test of 600x cards at Toms Hardware and every single 600x card has substantially higher write speeds than what you got. the Sandisk was almost 70mb/s average. While the Lexar was over 80mb/s.

I own two Transcend cards (400x) and they seem fast enough for me in my 5D2.

Can you provide a link to their comparison? I'm interested to see what device they used to read these cards. Normally, an USB 2.0 card reader will read slower speed than an USB 3.0 card reader, and SATA card reader will read higher speed than both USB 2.0 and 3.0 card readers.

But for my comparison, I used Kingston USB 3.0 card reader to test all three cards, so the readings here are comparable with each card (since 1 card reader was used).

The date is from almost 2 years back but here is the link. http://www.tomshardware.com …00x-memory-card,2562.html (external link)

one thing I noticed was that if you insert a card into the reader and import directly into lightroom, it goes very slow. i found dumping directly from the card into a folder gave me far faster trasnfer rates.

^Looked like they used SATA card reader.

But I just downloaded another software (CrystalDiskMark 3.0.2) to do a test between Sandisk Extreme 16GB vs Lexar Professional 1000X 32GB, and the result is definitely different vs using the HD Tune Pro software. Not sure why one software would have different speed test vs the other. Well, I take my word back about the Lexar 1000X CF. :D

Sorry, but I don't have a Lexar Professional 400x 64GB to test since I sold it a week ago.

While at it, I also benchmarked the SSD and the external USB 3.0 hard drive.
