Just wondering what you guys think of this idea? Its a regular kid's soap bubble, but frozen at the end of a straw being held by one of my kids....

Just wondering if you like it or not and why. :)
Thanks.

Care to elaborate what's wrong with the execution? Personally, I like the picture and think the idea is pretty cool.

Looks OK but what was the purpose? Seems like a lot of work for a quick shot. Nothing in the image says 'Frozen bubble' to me.

The purpose:
-> besides amusing my little one, I like the textures that frozen bubbles make.
-> Sometimes they pop and look like shattered glass too.

This one may not have worked out so well, but I'm sure I'll try them again. :D

Maybe including the picture of the kid's face in the background would make it more interesting.

Hmm, how about a macro shot of one?

Macro would have been very nice.

I think the image is well exposed with a nice bokeh and shallow DOF. However, I would have moved my camera perspective down and to the left to capture your son's face. I would have positioned the bubble in the lower left corner of the image with his arm leading the viewer to his face in the upper right corner. I would have told your son to make a surprised expression, eyes and mouth open, in awe. I would have kept the shallow DOF with only the bubble in focus. I think it would have been a better perspective and created a mood.

I should try that - I don't have a macro lens yet but maybe I can fake it. Thanks for the idea!

Hmmm ok... I can try that too. The thing is though, we've done frozen bubbles quite often, so it no longer surprises him! Have to get a different kid who's never seen it before I guess. :D

Ha, even a faked-surprised face can be pretty endearing!

A simple smile can be just as effective at creating a mood.
