Can we make a sticky where everyone could post in case things go missing?

I often look for gear on CL and when I find a deal that is too good to be true I google those items to see if anyone posted them as stolen.

There was an add on local CL for 2 Canon 1D mk3 cameras and 300mm f2.8 lens for $2500... 99.9% stolen and it was gone in seconds...

that was probably a scammer.

those posts appear all the time, but luckily people flag them quickly too.

they even have some convincing pictures too.

For what it's worth, I second the motion for a 'Stolen Gear' thread. Good idea.

Posting here wont do any good if the gear is never sold or the buyer never reads this thread.

Better to use a service like http://www.stolencamerafinder.com (external link)

I don't understand why people stealing gear discount the price so much. It's a huge red flag. With just a small amount of research, they can really improve their profit and reduce the risk of getting caught.

I'm of course assuming people who steal are only slightly below average intelligence, which is probably giving them too much credit.

True but they also want a faster sale.
