I had a girl last night want headshots and some portraits to put in a theater portfolio. I prefer outdoor shooting but its been freezing around around here. I cant wait til spring.

I like #3 and 5. The others would be discards only because of the wrinkles on her forehead are not flattering. I'd also try to get more ambient light into her eyes by modeling light or some other means so that you see more of the iris and less of the pupil.

took out the wrinkles... i still need to work on processing the third one here, not liking the shadows on her face. These look better?

That's what I was thinking. My son gets this all the time and we call it his "angry eyes" from the eye brow hairs being rumpled toward center. Usually smoothing toward the outside of his face helps but that doesn't help you now, does it? But as suggested, maybe there is something you can do in post.

These are great shots though. I am hoping to work on some head shots this week.

thanks guys, that forehead bugged me too. i didn't catch it during the shoot, but she had such a dramatic smile (shes a theater student) that it came out so prominent. glad i could remove it.

i'll look into the eyebrows as well, i noticed it in one image, but missed it in these.

thanks for all the tips and critiques to get these in better shape.
