I've noticed that some online stores in Canada offer a cheaper price for a 20D but with a U.S. warranty. Under NAFTA is this U.S. warranty valid in Canada?

Might be best off getting it right from the horses mouth. Look online for Canon canada and see if they have 1-800 number and check with them. I would hate to give a wrong answer.

I thought that all of Canon's cameras and lenses came with a Canada/US warranty whether you bought the equipment in Canada or the US. I know for sure that this is the case with lenses since I have bought a few from B&H and the warranty card is always for Canada and USA.

Call the Canon 1-800 to find out if it also applies to camera bodies.

Odd, the Canon USA warranty card covers both US and Canada.

I don't think that's odd, I believe it's the way it's supposed to be :)

Canon manufactures the cameras and sells them all over the world. Why shouldn't they have an international warranty?

If you want a restricted warranty, get a Nikon.

The reality is somewhat different. If you buy a Canon that wasn't imported into the US by Canon USA, they won't service it under warranty. You'll have to pay. Maybe Canon Canada will provide warranty service for any Canon bought anywhere. If so, it's the first time anyone here's had something good to say about them, after a slew of slow repairs, lost lenses, ineffective repairs, . . .

Canon Canada only honours the Canada/USA warranty. If you buy grey market you either have to take a chance or purchase a third party warranty unless the store provides its own coverage.

FWIW.....

NAFTA only deals with the trade of goods manufactured in the US, Canada and Mexico.. Canon cameras aren't made in North America and don't fall under the trade agreement...
