Hi gang,

I may have a day off next week in Orlando and was curious if Merritt Island NWR is worth the drive over. Sounds like a great place and was looking for some first hand experiences. Thanks in advance!

I was at Merritt Isand Wildlife Refuge a couple of weeks ago. I drove down from North Carolina on Sunday, spent Monday and Tuesday there and came home on Wednesday. Was it worth it - well I plan on going back in March.

Monday morning was great, all kinds of birds, ducks, waterfowl and I saw 8 different gators. Monday afternoon was slower. Tuesday was dead. Monday I shot 1028 pictures, Tuesday I shot 25. So it depends on luck, you could drive over there and see nothing like my Tuesday was or you could be lucky and have a day like my Monday was. But then with wild life and bird photography there is always that element of luck in it.

Bob
