Help with RSE color temp and tint

I never seem to be satisfied with my adjustments with the color temperature and the tint using RSE 2005. I especially have trouble with skin tones. I can never get the colors right. One example is I took a picture of someone wearing a red dress and no matter what I did it came out marron. Do you have a system, or is it a guessing game? I always guess and hope for the best.

My system: I use a reference card (Warmcards to be specific, but a standard gray card would work) and take a picture of it in the lighting to be used. I then use the WB eyedropper in Rawshooter to get the corrected WB settings from the image with the card. With a simple cut and paste of WB settings all of the images exposed in that lighting are corrected.

Thanks Jay. I never thought about that. I am going to try that next time. Now all I have to do is go buy me a gray card. You have been very helpful.

If you shoot white paper at the cams meter reading, you'll get a gray image that works just as well. You can even use it for a Custom WB.
