Nicely Done Peter!

'Shop out the stub-rotor in #2 and you'd be hard pressed to know it's not full scale.

That thing is really cool, I have never seen anything like that before. How big is that thing?

Very nice shots of a very nice heli. Do you know the rotor span?

Travis here's the link to an older shoot of another turbine powered heli which has a 10 foot rotor span. The picnic tables are standard sized so you'll have something to judge size. Rumor had it that he paid $25K for it ready to fly. He has at least 2 other turbine powered heli's. I had a thread on it back when I shot these so no need to do it again.

Thanks guys. For those who know helis, the mechanics are Hirobo Freya 90. 1.5 metre rotor diametre or for you guys about 3.5 feet.
The engines are around $3500. this heli would be about $5000

Peter if I remember right you fly R/C heli's. Do you know how they cancel out the thrust of the turbine so that it's flown using the rotors alone?

Hi Cicopo
There's a difference in engines from jet to heli turbine. This turbine has a transmission from drive shaft to rotor with a slip clutch.
The tail on these helis is always the method of cancelling out torque from the rotor.
Would be interesting to see a pure jet notar RC Heli though :)

Thanks Frank

I'd be afraid to fly this RC Heli. Granted, the RC heli I tried to fly didn't stay fly very long....I'll stick to the fixed wings. :-)

I agree with Jay and his post...shop-out the flybar and maybe some selective burning of the canopy and you'd be hard pressed to tell it apart form a actual Helo. Nice shots! I've only seen one other turbine heli as Airwolf and unfortuantely i didn't have my camera with me. :-(
