Thanks a bunch for this info. Have to order the adapter from Kacey.

BTW, I've asked this several times already, so don't mean to be a pest. Would some of these reflectors give me more effective "power" from the CL-360 to shoot people in the sun?

What's the one in the photos you just posted?

Nick,
As Dave points out the Maxi delivers a lot of light to the subject.

On the other hand, a 360 at half power is a 70cm umbrella frame soft box about 4 feet from the subject can be used to add light to the sun. This first shot the CL-360 is in line with the sun, but lower so as not to cast a shadow but to fill the deep shadows from the sun. Exposure was 1/8000, F 2.0, ISO 100 with Canon 5DIII and 35mm L.

The second shot is with sun behind and high. I did the shoot at noon just to have the worst sun possible. :-)

Same setup except the shutter was backed off to 1/5000 and a diffusion panel was added to the light. Again the light was about 6 feet from the subject. This time the lens was an 85mm L.

Those images do have my Lightroom import recipe applied.
Here is the yoga pose without any Lightroom adjustments other than my camera profile.

I also included one from later that has the light off to camera left. Also shot at half power with diffusion panel in place. As you can see the light is about 6 or 7 feet from subject. 85mm F1.4 at 1/5000 ISO 100.

These were shot in just about the worst possible lighting in Chicago, noon time sun without shade.

You're missing the point. Jerry Kacey's double bracket is fine for conventional shoe mount flash units but somewhat less so for the CL-180 and CL-360. The width of the opening of the double vertical mount is 3-1/2". The diameter of the opening of the single vertical mount is 4". Even a single CL-360 head cannot be centered in the opening of the DVM unless the flash body is positioned far enough forward such that the accessory locking knob is moved ahead of the DVM. That position places the flash tube farther forward than is optimal for many modifiers/reflectors.

The 4" diameter opening of the SVM is, as my photos showed, just wide enough to allow perfect positioning of the flash body AND flash tube. The discussion was based upon the premise that only a single flash was being used. So, if you're using a single CL-180 or CL-360, the Kacey bracket with the single vertical mount is definitely preferable to the double.

You're right - I didn't know that the double opening was smaller than the single. I know two 580/600 are a tight fit through the opening (sit too far back out of modifier due to the bump in the speedlight housings) but DMWard's pictures seems to show two CL360s somewhat inserted to a reasonable depth. They seem cockeyed but they seem symmetric about the center of the hole (not certain how much this would affect the output light vs one light dead center) - I wondering if some selective grinding on the Kacey bracket and shield (thin metal piece attaching to the beauty dish) will allow them to line up better.

I'll try it with one and then two CLs once purchased - maybe Jerry gets more of my money for a single bracket if I can't MacGyver something to center a light.

anyone experiencing intermittent on and off because of the cable or socket to the battery pack ?

I am using for 2nd time on the same day and experiencing this,
don't know the problem yet but I put it on the work with Quantum Trio as a backup in case cable
not working totally

flash working normally, no problem, battery pack also,
problem with the quality of the cable

I admit Quantum cable are the best, even I got china battery pack and they give it for free,
never use it only Quantum cable,
problem is, Godox or Cheetah using different cable

I already ask for spare cable for stock
they said that the price list for the spare cable does not come out yet,
so, no alternative on getting spare cable

absolutely no problems with either of my lights or cables. I will be using the 360 on a bridal shoot in extreme heat in S. TX today! Yesterday it was 105 degrees!

Happy Shooting:lol:

I used my CL-360 on an Engagement Shoot at the beach today. Lots of moving around. No issues at all. Hope you get it sorted out.

Same here (apart from the temperature and the sun, I've just had to put the heating back on and it's raining) - not a single problem with any of my Godox leads. ONE of them is a little bit awkward at locking into the power pack socket but that's only the bayonet not the electrical connection. Soon fix it when I get my needle files out.

Occasionally I find that I haven't pushed the plug into the flash unit quite hard enough. The spring inside the socket is fairly stiff and does need a good shove to get the plug really solidly located. Possibly this is your problem, an intermittent contact where the lead goes into the flash-head because it's only 90% located?

I am not sure,
I already test the unit when I got the unit, well, I got to make sure this unit will work
and know all possibilities where problem may occur,
my conclusion this unit is great, satisfy also with the cable

I put it on my team and work fine at the first job,
I see every detail at how they work and knowing some careless way of putting
a stress on the cable as they are not get used to equipment like this,
with all the wire attached on their belt

they are reporting that there were once the flash intermittent on and off,
after all no problem, for me, this is not good enough,
without knowing the real problem, the cable itself or the socket to the battery pack

I need 2 spare cables on each unit then

A bit off topic but last night I accidentally dropped one of my CL-180's onto the sidewalk. Luckily I had the reflector on and the bulb didn't hit the pavement. I picked up the unit and, to my relief, it worked perfectly. Not a scratch on it! I continued to use it all night long. A nice testament to how sturdy these units are.

I had a CL-360 go over today. It was about 9 feet up on a stand with 19" collapsible BD. Wind proved to be too much and over it went. CL-360 hit the sidewalk, there is some road rash but the light worked perfectly after the mishap.
