^ Ouch! 3 drops in a row. You guys need to be more careful. :) Not to brag, but during my 5 years of photography I've never dropped my gear. Not even once!

I'm sure I'll drop something later today just because I said this. lol.

I have never dropped a camera or lens, but have had light stands fall a couple of times.

probably because the light are cheap
so it's okay when people wants to drop it :D

got several times 580EX II fall on a lightstand and NOT SURVIVED, all repaired and replace flash tube

Has anyone tried one of these? (external link)

Plug the speedlite into one port and the camera into the other on a CL4500.

Why is nobody selling the FT-16 trigger separately? I could use another trigger, but not another receiver.

you better check with Quantum battery first,
the output voltage should be the same 7,2V or 8V,
I assume 8V, because it is the input of Quantum Trio

Probably to avoid the headaches caused by folks who don't understand the system thinking that buying just the trigger would give them full control without the expense of the receiver. Some people try to do the weirdest things - usually by lack of research / thinking / understanding but occasionally because they know best and the whole of the rest of the world is out of step.

Given how cheap the receiver alone is relative to the cost of Tx/Rx set, it wouldn't save you a great deal anyway and a spare Rx is always useful. Rx units are not very big and probably easily lost and for such a small cost saving, it's hardly worth it.

Lencarta are offering just the Commander unit (external link), as they call it, but of course their stocks aren't due till 26 July. Just possibly they have a few early samples? +44 1274 678842 might be a useful number if you're desperate right now (but don't let Garry talk forever on your international phone bill - he does love a chat!)

Thanks guys! :) I'll order one from Lencarta. Doesn't matter if I'll have to wait a bit.

Wow, looks like a company named Bolt is selling the Godox battery pack at B&H. Although, it's more than twice the price of the Cheetah... !

Note that 7.2V is the voltage of two li-ion cells in series. Or 6 NiMH batteries in series. 8V is a quite weird voltage to expect from a battery - it is more probably just a maximum value - and possibly a voltage it could get when using it with a wall wart.

That's what I'm wondering, if there is a separate circuit for the low voltage to the camera.
Then it would depend on if other manufacturers also provide that low voltage circuit.

Godox or Cheetah need this low voltage in order to power their flash unit,
I did some testing already, kinda forget, is it my tester fault or something else,
I got 6V or something different for low voltage output to Godox flash

Explain. The external power port on a Canon Speedlite, and I presume the power port on the Cheetah/Godox flash is a high voltage connection. That's why there is such short recycle time compared to the internal batteries.

Not sure where a 6 volt circuit would be used in the external connection with a speedlite.

David: Three wires inside the cable lead to the three connection pins in the external power port of either Canon, Yongnuo, Metz or Godox flash units. One is high voltage +ve circa 300v - 360v (marque dependant) for powering the flash recycling, one is low voltage +ve circa 5v (for monitoring I've been told), one is the GND or return -ve needed to complete the circuits. Other makes may vary of course.

I don't know quite what is monitored, possibly it's part of the voltage control on the high voltage feed. The low voltage definitely doesn't run the flash onboard controls though, hence the need for those internal batteries as well. In conversation with a Metz engineer** a few months back, I was left with the distinct impression that the Metz P76 pack WILL run a Metz flash without any internal batteries. I haven't tested this personally - there really are only a finite number of battery packs a retired photographer can truly justify even to himself!

** His English was vastly superior to my ill-remembered schoolboy German from 50+ years ago. However, I'm not convinced that I fully understood every nuance of his technicalities. "English as She is Spoke" was definitely a factor in our long conversation, to my shame so was "Ich habe fast kein Deutsch"

EDIT: ASSUMING that the 5v feed really is part of a voltage-monitoring circuit, I'm far from convinced that you could run a flash unit on one port and a camera on the other. There'd probably be a conflict somewhere. I shan't be trying it, that's for certain!
