Tim,
The Phottix mini-boom is ideal for putting two lights into a single modifier.

HERE (external link) is a detailed review of its capabilities, written by its designer.

As for gelling the Cheetahs, that is something Jesus will have to explain.

I Agree dmward!....phottix mini boom is my key element to use 2 cheetah light in an apollo type soft box!!

notice how i used 2 cheetah lights CL 360 in the big soft box to the right

It would be nice if Jesús also would give some answers.

I guess it is the portability that you guys like about these lights over studio strobes such as an einstien? The cl-360 with battery pack is roughly $750 which is not overpriced but not cheap either. Anyone care to explain their thoughts on going with this system?

I'd like to know as well, from what I can see from this system, you can have a multi-strobe like setup, whereas a multi eitstein setup is much heavier...

Cam,
I have 4 E640s and how have 2 CL-180s and 2 CL-360s.

With the E640s I rarely need to have them anywhere near full power. Thus, the CL-180/360s have sufficient power for similar applications.

I have 3 VMLs to power the Einsteins when outside. And they are compact, but still heavier than the Cheetah Light battery pack.

I use the Einsteins for studio work, but now much less for location shooting for portraits, etc. The Cheetah Lights are just more convenient.

In studio setups, the Cyber Commander is a valuable tool since it permits altering power on an entire lighting scheme by grouping the lights into a single group once the scheme is setup.

Based on my experience with these and Einsteins, I would say that the Cheetah Light is a better choice for most photographers unless they need the higher power and other studio strobe capabilities that require a monolight.

Do you use the CL triggers to be able to remotely adjust power on your Cheetah lights?

A Christmas shoot last night - Godox 180 - a little shaky mix of two photos with flash as I was trying to pull in as much ambient as possible - 1/4 second exposure with the SMDV 60.

Yes.
The CL-Tx includes a remote power adjust capability.
Its possible to organize lights into 16 groups. Generally, I put one light in each group.

In fact, that's all I use it for since I use the Cells-IIc trigger to enable FP-sync should I want to use it.

Made my own extension bar for the CL360, haven't tried it yet, but just wanted to be able to use it indoors and would let me tilt the soft box. Sorry for the terrible cell phone pics, i m hoping to get a good camera some day;)

I used metal tubing, and 1/4 threaded dowl through the center. I added washers to both ends and used the nuts to put tension on the dowl. I tried it tonight briefly , but seems like it may work ok

It not a clone. It comes out of the same production plant but with a different label on it or a blank label.

I am thinking the same way to make my own. Over here the boom is more expensive than the softbox itself.
