Over 4000 shots and 55 days after getting the 360 I finally put it on the charger to night and it only dropped 2 bars for charge from factory. Thats pretty insane

It is even more insane not to have a proper modeling light in this system with the capacity this power pack offers.

That would severely lower battery life, and add size to a system designed to pack a lot of punch in a small footprint.

If you absolutely have to have a modeling light get an LED flashlight and use some duct tape to attach it to the modifier.

Or, put your CLs back in their case and get out your monolights. :-)

You are so clever dmward. How about trying to sell this to Broncolor or Prophoto I bet they will buy it from you.

How have you guys find the HSS support on this flash? With about 30 mins of testing, I'm not sure if I'm seeing any enhancement over using one 580EXII. One of the things I was looking forward to with this flash was a much more powerful light output for HSS, so I'm a little disappointed so far, at least from my personal testing. I'd love to see what your experiences are if you use HSS.

TIA

I got more brilliant idea !

how about using Hella Luminator Xenon and connect it on car battery
which is considered portable and you got DAYLIGHT POWER

Godox Witstro Flash Tube AD-360 (type B)

Has any one any information on this? Could it be the equivalent of action head on Quadra?

I think that type A has smooth pins and type B has chicken legs caps in the middle. ;-)a

The type B bulb will not droop as easily as type A after being put in the socket.

H mode with the CL/AD 180 and 360 lights is causes about a 1 EV penalty for the lengthened FP-sync output. Because the lights have relatively long flash duration at full power in M mode that can also be used a shutter speeds beyond x-sync speed.

This means FP-Sync capabilities with 300, 150, 75, 37, and 18 Ws of output for a 360. And half those numbers for 180. That's well beyond 580EXII capabilities.

Remember that High Speed Sync is a proprietary Canon capability with its speedlites. H mode uses the same rapid pulsing to extend light output duration to compensate for shutter slit travel but is not HSS. There is no metering function going on between the camera and the CL/AD light.

Page back through this thread there are lots of examples of how these lights can be used in H mode or in M mode with ND filters. Both illustrate capabilities beyond what can be accomplished with a speedlite.

Thanks David. I've re-read through several pages and I think I do get it. I'll have to do a little more testing to see the difference between the 360 and 580EXII. For some reason, I just was not seeing any power difference beyond the x-sync speed. I think perhaps I need to put the light at a little more distance. I was testing at about 6 and 10ft from the subject.
