What are you using to trigger the CL/AD lights? I notice in your signature that you have a 5DIII and a 6D. Those cameras require a Cells II c which is the version with the latest firmware to support those cameras.

I'm using the yn-622c with the sync cable.

OK. That works. I've use those as well while waiting for the undated firmware for the Cells-IIc.

David

When you say updated firmware for the IIc - are these user upgradeable or are you referring to the IIc itself as the upgrade to the version II?

They can loose a third of a stop of light over the Cells II. In fact from an ideal timing to a poor one (but still achieving a clean frame) can be as much as 2/3rds to a full stop difference.

I still don't think that explains how your only matching a 580EXII though.

Yes, the upgrade that Edward asked for that he has called the Cells II-c. To my knowledge there is no field upgradability for these devices.

Yeah, I need to check it out some more. I had expected over-exposure at 6-10 feet away with the higher settings when in fact it looked pretty close to what I was seeing with the 580EXII. Thanks for the feedback guys!

On another note, I think I need something to brace the battery onto the lightstand. It looks like Cheetah Stand sells the battery hook that's similar in design to what Quantum makes. Is this what you guys use or are there any other alternatives?

Falcon Eyes CL-35 or two for the price of one CLD-35. I can even hold the battery up-side-down and it won't come off.

I am certain it is mentioned before in this thread but I can't find it back vmadvmadvmadvmadvmad

Am I the only one that had his battery packs come with a neck strap that you can hang off the light stand?

I opted not to use the strap and use a holder to keep tention off the battery cable and connection.

The Falcon Eyes CLD-35 is a double C-clamp. The clamps can be separated at which point you will have two PERFECT battery holders. This is the CLD-35:

I use the Adorama-branded version of the CL-35F (http://www.adorama.com/RGCZCL35F.html (external link)) with the 5/8" receptor removed:

If you don't need the 5/8" receptor (and have multiple batteries), the CLD-35 is potentially the better alternative than the CL-35F but note that Adorama ships their CL-35F free but charges shipping for the CLD-35:
