The strap is too wide to hang off anything on my lightstand. I wanted something more fixed so it's not going to move around when I'm carrying the lightstand. 5D Mark III, 6D, EOS-M 22mm f/2 | 24-70mm f/2.8L II | 50mm f1.4 | 100L | 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II | Rokinon 8mm Fisheye

I can even hold the battery up-side-down and it won't come off. Great -- just what I was looking for -- thanks! 5D Mark III, 6D, EOS-M 22mm f/2 | 24-70mm f/2.8L II | 50mm f1.4 | 100L | 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II | Rokinon 8mm Fisheye

The clamps can be separated at which point you will have two PERFECT battery holders. This is the CLD-35: ![]() I use the Adorama-branded version of the CL-35F (http://www.adorama.com/RGCZCL35F.html : If you don't need the 5/8" receptor (and have multiple batteries), the CLD-35 is potentially the better alternative than the CL-35F but note that Adorama ships their CL-35F free but charges shipping for the CLD-35: http://www.adorama.com/RGCZCLD35.html I love the visuals -- thanks Tetrode! 5D Mark III, 6D, EOS-M 22mm f/2 | 24-70mm f/2.8L II | 50mm f1.4 | 100L | 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II | Rokinon 8mm Fisheye

Would that be not more expensive and for the second option then you have to move clamp each time you extend the stand. The curled cable is nice but a little bit heavy and that is why I like the straight cable with velcro cable binder.

You could also hang it at the end of the flash holder and so have also a small counterweight.

Thats why i opted to go this route. Life is not fair. Got enough time but no machine shop and no scrap aluminium.

I am not a fan of using a spring clamp because of danger scratching the finish of the stand. I have used velcro cable holders to fixate the battery before I got the FE CLD-35.
