You might be interested to know that our old (and sorely missed) friend Jesus Padilla has posted a lovely 3-1/2 minute BTS video showing his crew and the Cheetah Lights at work. Be sure to watch in HD:

Need I add the images are gorgeous? No, didn't think so.

Reverse adapters are not trivial projects. In addition to the part that actually supports the flash in the reverse orientation, a supporting shaft and modifier mount is also required.

I relied on as many off-the-shelf-parts as I could find. The flash holder is based on a Paul Buff PLM AB "cage" to which an SMDV Godox-compatible mount has been added:

Note that I do have a bolt running through the umbrella holder on the flash head as I wouldn't trust the accessory mount friction lock either.

The Elinchrom-compatible modifier mount and sliding shaft were a separate project.

Nice work Dave.
If I was to get the part from PCB for their PLM's and then get the buff adapter for the speed pro bracket, and just use the mounting part, would I be on the right track to make one myself or I am off in the wrong direction? While I'm not flush with cash, sometimes waiting for something to come to market is cheaper then me screwing things up. Woodworking I can do some, metal stuff I'm horrible at.

I was looking for a nice and big softbox, and I think I have found a nice one.

It is 48", and easy to set up. I am going to use it on the Godox S type bracket.

What do you guys think? Is the bracket strong enough to hold such big softbox?

PhotographersWorldWide just lives a very boring life, so always have to ask controversial questions just to stir the pot.

By this persons thinking cars are a rip off as the all have wheels... :)

Made the same as Fotodiox and works great on locations. They are pretty much bullet proof in terms of construction. Not sure the swivle mount can handle or hold the 9 pounds hanging off the head.

Box that size will require using the Cheetah Stand or similar bracket.
It probably possible to mount the light inside the box for an indirect application, but then you'll have to come up with a way to mount the box on a light stand. Something similar to the rig that Dave designed.

As Scott points out the Fotodiox version is well built.

Wonder if I'll ever be lucky enough to come across a used cl-180/360. :(

Adorama has their Flashpoint Glow 47" Grand softbox deeply discounted at the moment. It appears to be a rebranded Rimelite Grand Box. I thought the 47" size would work will with a reverse mounted CL-360. Pending additional test results, I'd say it's an excellent combination:

The softbox is 16-sided and quite deep:

It does come with both an inner and outer diffuser and a speed ring is included.

I apologise if this question has been asked before but it is an incredibly long thread.

I have the Godox 360 which I think is pretty much an identical product. What I want to know is what is the maximum power output I can use to get a flash duration of 1\1000th of a second or shorter. Reading the specs it seems that it shoots at 1/300th at 1/1 and 1/10,000th at 1/128.
