If the v860 properly implements the Canon ETTL control protocol it should work with the TT1/TT5/AC3. As mentioned, the ETTL flash has to be in ETTL mode on the TT5. Then it gets the ETTL control messages via the ControlTL signaling. The AC3 is essentially a multi-channel FEC controller. In manual mode, it switches the remote light to M just as the Canon ETTL signally does.

I expect that the v860 would work approximately the same with the YN-622. Not sure if Clive has done a test to determine which class.

This was discussed in the other thread, I received my V860Cs the other day and had the chance to do some initial testing with them. So far what I found is that they work fine with the PW mini and flex system to include using the AC3.

As far as the YN 622C,so far I have noticed that you have to make sure that your Wireless Set option is enabled(even if you are only using one V 860C). Otherwise when you adjust your FEC the units will fire at full power.

Both of these are great to hear about!
How about when the power level is lowered, is the recycle time still the same, or as others stated, it gets really slower?
I eagerly await your review.
Thanks!

The recycle time is almost the same Einsein is 1.7 seconds full power and cl-600 is 2.0

The CL-600 has a different head and a led modeling light which is about a 100 watt bulb

Well I shot 10 frames per sec at 1/32 power and @ 8 feet i was getting f/5.6 at ISO 100 and it didn't miss a beat. The lower you go the faster the recycle time.

Scott,
I like the recycle time on the CL-600 at full power via battery.

Its been awhile since I fired an Einstein full power with a VML. My recollection is that its a bit longer than from mains.

Buggz, generally recycle times get faster as power is reduced. Less energy has to go from the power source to the capacitors.

What gets longer, with voltage controlled strobes is the flash duration as power is reduced. That is because a capacitor is only half filled when the light is set to half power. i.e. less pressure and thus longer to drain. The reason the recycle time is less is because the capacitor only has to be filled half way.

The reason the flash duration goes down with IGBT control is because the power circuit cuts of the current from the capacitor to the flash tube. Thus no tail. This technology was developed for speedlites to assist in reducing recycling time.

I would think that IGBT contra voltage-controlled operation would make a significant difference in color temperature.

If leaving a flash and instead look at incandescent lamps, then they perform like black bodies. At a higher watt rating, the thicker filament they have and the higher temperature they hold. So better performance by having more energy of shorter wavelength in relation to the red and infra-red tail.

But a short IGBT-controlled pulse must also be emitted at a higher temperature than a long and slow pulse from a voltage-controlled flash, even if there isn't a filament involved.

Yes David
This is not a wall mount unit all battery powered.

Just got my AD360 and my Cheetah S Bracket today in the mail. I'm supper pumped about using it tomorrow. I have a lot of soccer team pictures and I don't have to carry the strobe with me. However, this thing is a little bit bigger then I imagined, still small but has some bulk to it.:D

It feels so much more secure than the speedlite bracket where I didn't trust the cold shoe mount to keep the bulky AD360 from twisting.

Went down to Lake Kurwongba here in Brisbane yesterday to Tammi Bromley and the MUA Matison Ellen.

Gear was a 5D1, 24-105mm and an AD360/CL360.
I used a single light setup with sunlight to balance. Most of it was in a 43 inch silver/white brolly, some were bare bulb with standard reflector

I was only abut 2 feet away, with the AD360 and the standard reflector sitting in front of me on the gorund.

One of my CL-360s took a tumble Saturday while outside in the wind.
Flash tube broke but the light looked OK.
When I got home from the job I pulled out the broken tube and replaced it with one from another 360. Fired as expected. So...
I got on the computer and ordered a replacement tube from Cheetah. (Sunday morning.)
Got an order confirmation and then a couple of hours later an email saying order was shipped and a tracking number. ON SUNDAY!

That is customer service!!
