Thank you Scott. Incredibly informative and helpful.

I wouldn't dream of opening any flash equipment as I would have absolutely no idea what I was doing.

All the flashes in this thread are produced by Godox and my boxes there is each time a small card of end control. In Europe you have two years default guarantee but on batteries shorter. In my country guarantee never ceases if the product has defect that a consumer was not aware of when buying. It is a hitch for resellers.

edit: I think resellers that bring out products under their own name have a shipment which include certain amount of spares for DOA and repair. Testing the products might also be the responsibility to the brand owner in which leads to a discount on to total buying price.

I am really pleased with the efforts of Edward an others to have Godox make better products for us which have increased usability. I bought yesterday a second Godox AD360 so I am fully confident that it is an excellent product.

I appreciate your input Edward. This is very useful information

I bought 4 units from Calumet in UK where I'm based. If I were based in USA I would certainly have bought from yourself as you have an excellent reputation for service. My Sister is USA resident in San Francisco but that doesn't really help.

From what you are saying it sounds a bit like there is variable quality control from Godox and you obviously sort that by testing the kit yourselves. Unfortunately I don't believe that this sort of testing happens at Calumet so there's another good reason for me to test these fully. Calumet offer a one year warranty, although under European law you can claim for upto 2 years but it is up to the buyer to prove the problem in the second year.

They are taking the issue very seriously and sorting the situation for me but unfortunately as they have just had a 30% off sale they are low in stock. They do carry the GF400 in rental.

As it happens I bought the lights for the daily job. I have had my business as a commercial photographer for 32 years and mainly shoot people for corporate, healthcare and education clients www.larrybray.com (external link) . I often find myself in unrepeatable situations that can be costing the client a lot of money so I take back up for virtually all the equipment I use so that no one is let down.

Whenever I buy new equipment I test it thoroughly to the limit of it's specification to make sure it does what it says and that it all works correctly. I don't take it on any job until I'm totally satisfied that all is correct. Hence my testing the number of full power flashes as there are situations where I will need this facility. As these units are a relatively unknown quantity compared to the Elinchrom Quadra, which I was considering, I felt I needed to be even more thorough than usual.

I'm aware that they are not 400 WS as I read many of the posts on this thread before I bought them but thanks for letting me know. This forum has been really helpful and once Iv'e sorted my kit I'll try to add to the info where possible.

Many thanks

Hi guys. There's tons of info here and quite frankly, I'm overwhelmed. I have a few questions..

I have:
- 5d MK III and some canon primes.
- 4 600ex rt speedlites
- 6 tt5 transceivers.

I'm looking into CL360s as my possible next purchase (was looking at quadras but someone suggested 360's as I need to shoot wide open in broad day light and need HSS).

Is is possible to trigger a combination of 600ex's and cl360's all in HSS using TT5's? If yes, do I need any triggers sold by cheetah on top of the TT5's? If only tt5's will work, is there a need to change any settings on the tt5's via the software or is it just plug and play? How do I control the output on individual speedlites/360's? Lastly, can I have a speedlites mounted on the hotshoe of my tt5 on the camera and Still be able to trigger the slave speedlites and 360's?

Yes, no, yes change timing, for the 360's you need ft-16 trigger, yes.

Thanks for the response!

2 more questions:

- How do I make the Godox on the 360 work with the TT5 on the camera and 600's? Or does the Godox get mounted on top of the TT5? How do I control the power of the 360 (connected to FT-16) using the TT5 on camera?
- How does one control the flash outputs of 600ex spedlites using TT5? will I be able to control the power of remote 600ex's (connected to TT5's) using the master 600(also connected to TT5)?

So let's say this is the gear I have:
-5D mk III
- 4 Speedlite 600ex
- 2 CL360
- 7 pocketwizard TT5
-2 FT-16 trigger

Is the following setup correct?:
- 5D MK III with a TT5 in the hotshoe and a Master 600ex speedlite (HSS enabled) mounted on the TT5 hotshoe (TT5 set to C1, Group A)
- 3 600ex speedlites off-camera (HSS enabled) - each connected to a TT5 via hotshoe (TT5's set to C1, Group B)
- 2 CL360 off-camera (HSS enabled) - each connected to a FT-16 by a cable. Each FT-16 mounted in the hotshoe of the TT5 (TT5's set to C1, Group B)

Will this work? and where will I be able to control the flash powers from?

Put the 360 remote on top of the TT5.
Control the 360's through the trigger and 600's through the camera.

That are four questions. ;-)a
Connect the 360 to a remote TT5 by cable or hot sync. The ft-16 has not to be connected to TT5 or camera to control the flash power of the 360.
I can't help you with the 600.
On the last, be aware that the FT 16 is transmitter and the receivers are smaller and are plugged directly into the USB socket on the 360.

There is absolutely no difference in the product except for the brand name. Next to Godoxs and Cheetah there a number of sellers selling the excact same unit under their own name.

Does it really make a difference mmmfotografie. BamPhoto has the right to voice his opinion. Since your not in the US sorry about your luck that you don't get the one on one customer service we get from Cheetahstand.

Thanks guys! Well the Cheetah lights are going to set me back quite a bit money-wise once I factor in the shipping and customs cost. Godox are available locally in Canada.

My fault. I got the impression that IfranDDS was living to the east of Europe however I now see he lives in Canada. Cheetahstand supplies to Canada so the statment of BamPhoto is valid.

It seems that IfranDDS has made a decision and when he is not satisfied by the service of Godox he can always contact CheetahStand for service but that is than paid service.
