Anyone have options regarding this deal?

I ordered a couple from there in the previous deal where they were a notch cheaper.

Delivered quickly, full kit, no dramas at all.

Note they are they new AD360 with a different power connector, which is a bit annoying for those of us with previous models we're likely to be mixing and matching with. But I expect they'll all be like that now.

Adorama has their Flashpoint Glow 47" Grand softbox deeply discounted at the moment. It appears to be a rebranded Rimelite Grand Box. I thought the 47" size would work will with a reverse mounted CL-360. Pending additional test results, I'd say it's an excellent combination:

QUOTED IMAGE

can someone tell me what the flash is mounted on in this picture?

I know light quality is subjective, but as with RickFL just a few posts above, I could really use some opinions on modifiers/brackets etc that work well with the 180/360. I think i am pretty much sold on the indirect mount as seen above and would like to know how to go about getting set up. I am also considering the Cheetah beauty dish so any comparisons to a deeper indirect style light would be appreciated too.

I plan to use this set-up for location portraits of individuals and small groups bot indoors and outside. i like the hard light of this style box, but think i will also want the ability to add a diffuser on occasion.

I'm contemplating my 360 setup for 3 850 setup. With the 3 setup, hopefully you can fire it head on without a modifier and still have a somewhat softer light because you have 3 points of light evenly spread. Besides, having an extra battery gets to be annoying with the cord management etc.

What do you guys think? Anyone tried a 3x V850 setup?

I have 4x 850s and a 360. Before I got the Cells2 for the 360, I used 3 together in a softbox for HSS. It worked, but I much prefer the simplicity of the 360.

In preparation for the Saturday sale, can anyone recommend some must have modifiers or accessories for the CL 360? I know favorite modifiers depend on your shooting style but just looking for some general advice. I shoot on location not in studio. Thanks!

I'm a fan of their collapsible octaboxes. I have the 33" and am considering getting a 43" tomorrow.

what modification that you made ?

Full rewire
Quantum only uses 2 wires and 180/360 require 3 wires
Quantum Cable is only rated for 300v and I replaced it with a 600v

is it on the different size of the pin ?

The Plug Pins are bigger on the Quantum for the 360 and were swapped out.

polarity or cable position difference ?

The Pins wiring for the Quantum are on different pin wireing order and the cable needed to be replaced

All the info was given by Tetrode (David) on pages back around page 75
This was not a simple mod and a lot of the parts were needed to be replaced to make this work. If you don't know what your doing or have all the parts needed, I would won't even try this mod.

That a tetrode / David Mod to make any modifier an indirect which gives softer light without having to use any diffusers. You should check out his flickr stream he has some pretty cool mods.

Here is the prototype Transformer which will perform 13 different functions.
Indirect is one of its functions.

Unless your going 3x V860 and Ettl, I would rather stick to just using a 360.

Love the 43" great for even coverage and super simple to set up.

Thanks for the input guys. I thought that carrying 3 v850 would be more convenient than carrying the 360, battery and cable. Am I missing something here? :)
