WOW NO NO NO
It might only be an 11.1v battery, but its not like a AA throw way battery. Your dealing with a lot of power in a small package. We are talking large fire or explosion. LiPo batteries can not be throw in the trash it takes a special dump. If you punchers one of the cells or over charge it will start a large fire. A class ABC fire extinguisher is not going to put it out, It will have to run its own course.
I highly recommend no one trying to mod or mess with a LiPo unless you know what your doing (pro).
This is a good reason not to post what your going to do, because other people with think its okay to do and could cause serious injury or loss.
Good point Scott!!! I hadn't thought about those without prior experience working with LIPO's reading my post and thinking this was an amateur friendly operation. I am fully aware of the fire/explosion risk that comes from a damaged pack or from overcharging. I should have thought about that before posting.
Sometimes the geek kid side of me wins out over the responsible grown up side.
Everyone: A damaged LIPO, improperly handled can quickly burst into rather violent flames and burn down your house! And LIPO cells have very thin walls that are easy to puncture! Please do not ever open these packs unless you know exactly what you are doing. It is an inherently risky operation! If you make a mistake a voided warranty will be the least of your worries.
Update: These risks only come about when the factory pack is opened for modification. The battery package is perfectly safe to use and store in your home as long as the heavy outer plastic shell is not removed. I don't want people to think they purchased a dangerous item.
