is the clip on back removable?

regardless of the new sync port, i will sometimes want to carry this in my pocket and will not want that clip on it.

On the site of Flashhavoc a LED modeling light based on the AD-S17 Dome is featured in an article.

The modeling light option looks like a useful addition when using umbrella frame modifiers.
It might be problematic with modifiers that use the same mounting technique.

nice to see this important development, I've been hoping/expecting this to come to market for a while.

anyone (looking at you scott, or Elv if you're around) want to comment on how bright this is compared to other strobes' modeling lights?

Found the original producer of this item and it is a Chinese site about making pictures: http://www.ooidea.com (external link) warning a slow site and it will load in time.

More specific information on this led-ring and LED driver can be found on: http://item.taobao.com ….61.skiMXl&id=42651470367 (external link)

LOL really

I think you need to get your facts straight before saying who the original producer is.

Do you mean that Godox painted the name "ooidea" on the LED controller box?

Then, when you post sketchy pictures/postings without any explanation what it is then you can't expect us to know what you know about what you are showing in the posting. ;-)a

The strength of this version is less than a fifth of the LED posing light I constructed. Inside With my LED I have enough light. Against the sun under a closed sky my 30Watt LED is no match.

It will work inside and when there is to less light to focus and great for positioning the flash and also the model to have a optimal usage of the flashlight with nice shadows.

CORRECTION: I have now more information and the strength of the LED's is higher. With a charged battery pack it can reach almost 9Watts so matching to the LEDs used in studio strobes that have a posing light LED.

Some more thoughts. I have also seen 700mA besides the normal 350mA LED beads so when having 3 serial and two strangs parallel it would double the light output with the 700mA beads. The LED driver would then have to output 1400mA .

No one said godox anything

I was not wanting to release the info yet, but again you jump to conclusions of who the original producer is.

Those are 3w each cree leds bulbs, so before you say is it cree the original producer the answer is no. Just because the parts have labels on them only shows what parts are used in making it work. You might want to check the pm a few months back when you asked about building your modeling light to me and maybe you will know who original producer is. ;)

Not sure if this is the place to post here, but did anyone have an issue with the AF Assist Beam alignment on the V860 or V850 in low-light usage like at a wedding dance? Like this particular reviewer: http://www.amazon.com …nodeID=502394&store=photo (external link). I'd rather not order and find out this is an issue with all cheetahstand/godox v860c's and then go through the trouble of returning / exchanging / etc and have to pay for the shipping costs for an issue like af assist misalignment. I normally order through Amazon so I'm not familiar with other distributors. Is Cheetahstand's QC better than the Neewer / Amazon rebrands and does the Cheetah version have reliable AF-assist light?

The AF light is the same on all no matter which place you buy them from. Godox is aware the problem and is trying to fix it.

Godox is the original producer of the flash and companies have them re tagged with their logos to insure warranties and service. Some companies take measures to make sure the product is work order before shipping out, so there is no issues of a defective product arriving at your door step. No one like a DOA item after waiting for it to be shipped to their home.
