I would choose the 5D over the 1DS. If it was the 5DMII vs the 1DSMII, I would most likely go with the 1DSMII.

Why the 5D over the 1DS? larger lcd screen and 4+years newer tech and better high iso.

I'm trying to decide between the 5DMkII and 1DsMkII right now. Any insight on your above response as to why you would go with the 1DsMkII. I've read very positive opinions about both but am leaning toward the 1DsMkII.

5dc. The 1ds is slow. Painfully slow. ISO performance is not as good as the 5dc. Then there's the whole weird two finger acrobatics. NiMh batteries are not as efficient as Li ON as far as recharging goes. Small LCD. Is it even smaller than the 1dsII?

AF is about the only thing going for it.

While the 5d MII has it's advantages over the 1ds MII such as larger lcd, live view and more mp's. The 1ds MII has close to 18mp's and a much more advanced autofocus system that I prefer. I've owned 1d bodies before and you begin to take that killer focusing system for granted, until you shoot with a body such as the 5d and 5d MII. If you like to shoot with anything other than the center focus point, then the 1d bodies are a great choice. I shoot with primes and don't like to use the focus and recompose technique when shooting close to wide open.
