Hello everyone,
Ive been shooting with my 500D for more than two years now and I want to upgrade to a full frame.
Mostly I shoot landscapes and macro, and I want to try portraits too.
I can sell my 500d and get a canon 5d for like 70$ more (second hand)
Im afraid to buy the mark ii because im sure that its price is going to drop in the near future, so meanwhile Ill get a mark i and EF lenses.

I have a canon 100mm f2.8, canon 50mm f1.8, 18-55is, and a rokinon 8mm.
If Ill upgrade to FF I will get the canon 17-40 too.

What should I do?

Prices for any body are going to drop, it's just how it goes, so just accept that and buy the body you want/need. There have deals on the 5d2 for ~$1400 new.

What's your reason for wanting FF? What do you think the 5d is capable of doing that your 500d isn't? I don't think there's a huge difference in IQ between the two, or in high ISO performance. I haven't owned the original model, but the difference between my 5d mark II and my wife's Rebel T3i is negligable. You'll lose lots of features, too, such as dust removal and a better LCD screen.

If I were you, I'd use what I have and save for a time when the 500d is no longer capable of meeting your creative desires.

Just my $.02.

Why do you want to go FF?

For landscapes I would want live view. I find it quasi-essential. That alone would stop me from getting a 5Dc. For macro, I want great high ISO performance so I don't need to use flash all the time, and liveview is also, again, very helpful.

If your budget doesn't allow the 5DII at least, I wouldn't bother upgrading. The main reason I see for going FF better high ISO performance. The 5Dc has a bit better high ISO performance compared to your 500D, but it is not a great improvement.

For portraits, the 5Dc would be fine.

Where I live a 5d2 costs about 2050$, a used one is 1500$.
I think because of the new bodies (5D 3/6D/D600) its price will drop to 1000$ in a half year..
Here a 5dc (used one) costs only 450$, so if Ill sell my 500d I wont lost alot of cash.
I want to upgrade to 5d because of the narrower depth of field, bigger and more solid body, bigger viewfinder, better IQ (http://www.flickr.com …ss/72157624390955572),and (external link) if Ill want to upgrade to a newer body all my lenses would already be compatible to FF so it will be easier to upgrade.
And im almost not using the live view with my 500d anyway.. and I never used its video.
