hyperfocal 17-85 confused

In the book understanding exposure by bryan peterson he talks about
setting the aperture for ex at f/22 and presets focus so that the distance
of two feet is aligined directly above the center mark near the front of lens.How do you do this wiyh the 17-85 is lens? How do you set the hyperfocal and preset the depth of field? Thanks

Set the lens to manual focus and turn the focus till it reaches the 2 feet mark. Set your camera to AV mode and set it to f22. Sorry about the dusty picture.

Thanks for repliyng do you use the adep mode on the 350xt for landscape? I also found a great web site JimDoty.com that has a chart and explains it well.Check it out.
