Rain moved into Death Valley this past week.. not something that happens very often..

Looking down into Badwater Basin at 282 ft below Sea Level from atop Dante's View at 5,000 ft..

Pelting rain and high winds finally drove me back down to Furnace Creek seen in the far distance..

Wow, it looks like they got a significant amount of rain! A few events like this will really help the upcoming wildflower season.

Thanks for sharing a wonderful image!

Bryan

Thanks guys...

The wildflowers are fields of yellow and can be pretty amazing.. The images I have are all on film and I have not scanned any to disc yet.. may have to do that..

It's definitely on my list this this year to go back for shots of them.. Best views and access is at the far end of this photo, up north by Stovepipe junction and on the way to Scotty's Castle..

Well the rain certainly gave you some good colours and an interesting sky!

Cheers, Helen

Nice shots! I loved going to Death Valley when I lived in Vegas area. The smell of the desert during and after a rain is so awsome. Really enjoy looking at your photos. Jean

Just a follow-up here... I did scan an old film shot of the wildflowers in bloom from the early 80's..

Great shot of my absolute favorite place to explore.
Getting it with some weather is even better.
